The Best Sleep is Given by Nature

Peter Tribus has been an expert in healthy sleep for over 30 years. “A good day starts with a good night. Finding natural mattresses without toxins is not that easy.”

The Best Sleep is Given by Nature

Mr. Tribus, you say that you can sleep well practically anywhere?

Peter Tribus: “Yes, well, but not necessarily healthily. In many products, you can sleep well. For healthy sleep, I need a healthy environment.”

So when is a mattress a good mattress?

Peter Tribus: “When I have a bio-certified raw material that is free from toxic substances. When the limits are adhered to, and the product doesn’t contain isocyanates, such as mercury residues, and is free from chemical additives.”

So, is bio-soya the general success recipe?

Peter Tribus: “Not necessarily, because even soy can contain heavy metal residues such as nickel. We filter even the bio-soya in the Paljari natural mattresses to remove these residues. Thus, our mattresses and bedding products are guaranteed to be 100% natural. The average person spends six to eight hours in bed. With pollutant-laden mattresses, toxic substances can unknowingly enter the body. With a natural, healthy mattress, however, I can improve my quality of life practically while sleeping.”

Information/Facts: Natural Latex Mattresses: Mattresses made of natural latex are ideally mostly made of natural rubber. The cover should be 100% organic. Latex (rubber) is naturally liquid. To make it compact, it must be vulcanized, meaning a certain amount of synthetic additives is required. When it comes to “bio-mattresses,” there should be a distinction. Essentially, these products use bio-certified raw materials like bio-soya. The term “BIO-mattress” can only be used for food products that comply with EU regulations for organic farming and are subsequently controlled by an authorized inspection body.

Natural Cold Foam Mattresses: Due to their good lying properties and relatively affordable price, cold foam mattresses are attractive to many customers. A small portion of the petroleum used in cold foam can now be replaced with vegetable oils: A maximum of 30 percent of the cold foam can consist of sunflower or castor oil, with the remaining 70 percent still made from mineral oil. However, they are often sold as “bio-cold foam mattresses,” suggesting that the foam is entirely made from natural resources, which is not the case. To distinguish natural mattresses from conventional mattresses, you should carefully study the listed ingredients and not rely solely on the description.

Certificates: Various certificates can help! The so-called inspection stamp from Öko-Test can also be a helpful guide when it comes to price, mattress firmness, elasticity, body zone support, effects, ingredients, and processing.

Self-help Tips: A bit of self-help can assist restless sleepers: Various relaxation techniques such as yoga, meditation, autogenic training, or progressive muscle relaxation are effective methods for combating sleep disorders, as is a regular sleep-wake rhythm. For the sake of the inner clock, one should avoid “late” bright light. A suitable temperature in the bedroom of 16 to 18 degrees Celsius is helpful. Managing fluid balance optimally also helps. This means: do not drink alcohol three hours before going to bed, as it can have a negative impact in the second half of the night. Sleep teas or herbal teas with ingredients like hops, lemon balm, and valerian root are suitable in the evening. A warm cup of milk with honey is said to work wonders: the tryptophan in the milk is converted into serotonin in the brain. The glucose in honey ensures the rapid transport of the protein building block into the brain. The welcome effects: drowsiness and relaxation.

DiaB contains alpha-cyclodextrin and is a powder for making a cyclodextrin-containing drink. Consuming alpha-cyclodextrin (ACD) as part of a starchy meal helps reduce the rise in blood sugar after eating.

What is alpha-Cyclodextrin

The European Union Commission has recognized the health benefits of alpha-cyclodextrin with Regulation (EU) No. 536/2013, allowing the blood sugar-lowering effect to be stated on products containing alpha-cyclodextrin. Scientific studies confirm the blood sugar-lowering effect of alpha-cyclodextrin. Alpha-cyclodextrin is a ring-shaped sugar that naturally occurs during the enzymatic breakdown of starch. It is used as a soluble fiber in products like drinks, breakfast cereals, or baked goods.

Lipophilic molecules (such as fat or starch molecules) enter the hollow space of alpha-cyclodextrin, where they are bound and shielded from digestive enzymes. These molecules are not broken down or digested in the human intestine. Instead, they pass through the digestive system and are excreted. To achieve this effect, it is recommended to take 10% of the starch content of a meal as DiaB. For example, if a meal contains 50 grams of starch, it is recommended to take 5 grams of DiaB (alpha-cyclodextrin). The corresponding amount should be dissolved in water and taken before meals.
