Natural Remedies for Sunburn
Natural Remedies for Sunburn
A health tip from Doris Jäger – naturopathic therapist, lecturer, health educator, and resilience trainer in Wolfurt, Vorarlberg.
Most people know that a deep tan is anything but healthy. When sunburn occurs, the skin burns like fire, turns bright red, and may even blister. When the sun leaves its mark, quick relief is essential.
Cooling Compress
Soak a cloth or bandage in lemon juice, cold herbal tea, or vinegar, and place it on the affected areas. This soothes the skin and relieves pain.
Quark and Yogurt
Apply quark or plain yogurt to the sunburned skin. Important: Rinse it off before it dries to avoid further irritation.
Cooling Bath for Severe Burns
If your sunburn is severe, take a cool bath—never warm! Add one liter of kefir and two tablespoons of honey to the water. Stay in the bath only as long as it feels comfortable.
Colloidal Silver
Colloidal silver can help with infections of all kinds and is also effective for sunburn. Soak a cloth in the solution, apply it to the affected skin, and leave it on for 30 minutes.
Aloe Vera
Aloe Vera is one of the world’s oldest medicinal plants and a well-known remedy for various skin problems. Its cooling gel is particularly effective in soothing sunburn.
Lavender Oil Spray
Get a high-quality lavender essential oil. Add 3-4 drops to a spray bottle filled with mineral water and mist it onto your skin for a refreshing and healing effect.
