Forest bath salt

Waldbadesalz (Forest Bath Salt)

This Waldbadesalz is a natural remedy helpful for muscle strains, circulation disorders, rheumatism, or cold symptoms. The pine needle oils help loosen mucus in the nose and bronchi, while salt cleanses and supports skin conditions. Combined with pine needles, it also relieves itching and excessive sweating.

Ingredients:

  • 250 grams of natural salt

  • 1-2 tablespoons of almond oil

  • 1-2 handfuls of pine needles

  • Optional: a few drops of essential pine oil (White Pine oil)

  • 1 glass jar (You can also use other needle plants, if preferred.)

Preparation:

  1. In a bowl, mix the salt with the almond oil and a few drops of essential pine oil.

  2. Crush the pine needles lightly to release their active ingredients.

  3. Layer the pine needles and salt in the glass jar, gently pressing each layer down.

  4. Once done, seal the jar and let it steep in a dark place for 2 weeks so the salt absorbs the fragrance of the pine needles. (Optional: Mix the pine needles directly with the salt if preferred.)

Shelf Life

Use within 12 months after preparation.

Usage

1-2 tablespoons of the Waldbadesalz can be added to your bath or placed in a small cotton bag and hung from the water tap so the pine pieces stay inside the bag.

  • Recommended bath temperature: 36° to 38° Celsius

  • Duration: 20 minutes
After the bath, gently pat the skin dry and rest.
