Forest Bath Salt with Douglas Fir and Lavender
This Waldbadesalz is a natural remedy beneficial for muscle strains, circulation problems, rheumatism, or cold symptoms. The essential oils of the Douglas Fir needles are antiviral and antibacterial, providing relief for colds. The Douglas Fir is also used in massage oils for back pain, offering an uplifting and health-promoting effect on the spirit. Lavender is perfect for those stressful or hectic days, providing a calming, relaxing, and harmonizing effect, especially helpful for nervousness, restlessness, or sleep disorders.
Ingredients:
250 grams of natural salt
1-2 tablespoons of almond or olive oil
1-2 handfuls of Douglas Fir needles
1 handful of lavender flowers
Optional: a few drops of essential white pine oil (Other needle plants can be used as well.)
1 glass jar
Preparation:
Mix the salt with the oil and a few drops of essential oil in a bowl.
Crush the Douglas Fir needles to release their active ingredients.
Crush the lavender flowers and mix them in.
Layer the lavender, needles, and salt alternately in the glass jar, gently pressing each layer down.
Once the jar is filled, seal it and let it steep in a dark place for 2 weeks so the salt can absorb the aromatic oils from the needles and flowers. (Alternatively, mix the needles directly with the salt.)
Shelf Life:
Can last for several years.
Usage:
Add 1-2 tablespoons of the salt to your bath or place it in a small cotton bag, hanging it from the water tap so that the needle pieces stay inside the bag.
Recommended bath temperature: 36° to 38° Celsius
Duration: 20 minutes
After the bath, gently pat the skin dry and rest.
