Lucky Are Those Who Have Pine Resin Salve
This tree resin-based salve is an excellent natural remedy for supporting wound healing. Made from the resin of spruce, fir, larch, or pine, it was once a staple in every household. Traditionally, it was used for inflammation, bruises, wounds, rheumatism, gout, and minor injuries. Today, it is also applied for eczema (neurodermatitis) and insect bites.
What makes this salve so valuable is its essential oils and resin acids, known for their anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, circulation-boosting, warming, and decongestant properties.
The tree resin for the salve can be collected from the forest, but it is important to harvest responsibly without damaging the tree. Trees produce resin as a protective mechanism, so do not remove all of it from one spot. Never harvest so much that the wood becomes exposed, as this can harm the tree.
