Warm Damp Chamomile Compress
The healing properties of true chamomile have been known for thousands of years and are used both internally and externally for various ailments. Chamomile has anti-inflammatory effects and helps reduce mucosal swelling. When used as a compress or poultice, it can relieve stomach cramps, bloating, or restlessness. The main active ingredients are essential oils, including α-Bisabolol and Matricin, as well as flavonoids and coumarins.
Ingredients
For the compress, you will need:
- 1-2 tablespoons chamomile flowers
- 500 ml hot water
- 1 thin linen cloth
- 1 inner cloth
- 1 outer cloth or blanket
Preparation
- Pour hot (not boiling) water over the chamomile flowers.
- Spread the damp flowers onto the linen cloth.
- Wrap the compress in a cloth and place it on the affected area.
- Secure it with the outer cloth.
Shelf Life
Must be freshly prepared before each use.
Application
- Use once or twice daily until the local warmth sensation fades.
- Can be applied for up to one week.
